National Volunteering Strategy Consultation – Kilkenny Submission

As part of the development of the new National Volunteering Strategy, consultations have been taking place around Ireland to hear directly from those involved in volunteering — and Kilkenny has had its say!

Kilkenny Volunteer Centre and Kilkenny Public Participation Network jointly hosted an in-person consultation on 1st October 2025. The Kilkenny consultation process involved a dedicated consultation evening for community and voluntary organisations, a volunteer focus group, and a survey that was circulated to volunteers across the county.

This process listened to the voices of local community groups, volunteer managers, and volunteers on what’s working well, what challenges we face, and what supports are needed to help volunteering continue to grow and thrive here in Kilkenny.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part and shared their experiences and ideas.   Your input will help shape the future of volunteering both locally and nationally.

You can read the full Kilkenny Consultation Report here, which has now been submitted Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht.
