Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership are inviting applications from community groups for funding to assist with the organisation of a cycling themed event during Bike Week 2019. Bike Week is a celebration of all things cycling with the view to increasing the number of people cycling both for recreation and transport.

Bike Week takes place this year from Saturday 22nd to Sunday 30th June and applications are invited from community groups, voluntary organisations, schools, sports clubs, active retirement groups, work places, retail spaces – virtually any group that would like to organise a Bike Week 2019 event.

What can be funded?

• Heritage tours of villages, town, and gardens – guided bike tours.
• Escorted cycle trips from schools to a local amenity, to local housing estates for practice or fun ideas such as treasure hunts and slow bicycle races;
• Bike maintenance workshops
• Midsummer night cycle
• School bike art competition
• Family fun cycle
• Cycling window display competition in local shops
• Picnic cycle
• Fancy dress bike parade.
• Fashion Show with bike theme

Funding will be in the range of €100 to €300 for successful applications and will be dependent on the number of applications received.
