| Community groups and organisations from across Kilkenny are being encouraged to attend the upcoming Kilkenny Public Participation Network (PPN) Spring/Summer Plenary and Networking Event, which will take place on Wednesday, May 27 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel.
Under the theme “Building Brighter Futures Together,” the event will bring people together for an evening of engaging discussion, information sharing and networking, with a strong focus on social inclusion. Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Cllr. Mary Hilda Cavanagh, will open the event and welcome attendees. The programme will include a series of presentations, beginning with an update on Kilkenny PPN activities from Martin Rochford of the PPN Secretariat. Soraya Power of the ICE Team will speak on celebrating diversity in Kilkenny and promoting inclusive and equitable opportunities for all, while consultant Rita Kearney, alongside members of the PPN Social Inclusion Working Group, will formally launch the new PPN Social Inclusion Plan. Further contributions will include a presentation from Lianne Kelly of Kilkenny County Council’s Community Section on funding opportunities available to local groups, as well as an update on Community Radio Kilkenny City activities from its Chair, Sinéad O’Callaghan. In addition to the talks, the evening will feature a lively cultural element, with performances from the Kilkenny Global Dance Club and Equal Vibes, along with the “Faces & Stories” intercultural storytelling photo exhibition. The event is designed to encourage networking and connection between community groups, PPN representatives, local services, organisations and providing space for attendees to share experiences and showcase their work. Groups that are members of Kilkenny PPN also have the opportunity to host an information stand on the night, subject to availability. Places are limited and advance booking is required. Groups interested in reserving an information stand can do so by contacting Kilkenny PPN directly. Kilkenny PPN Coordinator, Bortha Woudsma said the event is about strengthening relationships and supporting communities to work together more effectively. “This is a chance for people to come together, learn from one another and build connections that will support strong, inclusive communities across Kilkenny,” Further details about the event is available on Kilkenny PPN website www.kilkennyppn.ie. Groups are encouraged register for the event via Eventbrite or by contacting or 056 7794255. |
