Thursday 25th November from 6pm
Kilkenny PPN has organised a workshop which is being facilitated by Development Perspectives. This is specifically for PPN member organisations, PPN representatives and Secretariat members as well as other PPN Stakeholders.
We need to address the global challenges the world faces and tackle all dimensions of sustainable development, in a balanced and integrated manner.
Development Perspectives (DP) as part of a strategic consortium including Aontas, Irish Rural Link, Concern and NUIM, has been funded by Irish Aid to create a workbook for Public Participation Networks (PPNs) and deliver trainings in 2021 regarding the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The trainings will highlight the relevance of the SDGs in a local-specific context and also the potential that Development Education has in creating transformative change in communities. DP would like to extend an invitation for your PPN to be one of the six PPNs involved in this programme in 2021.
What are the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s)
In 2015, world leaders agreed to 17 goals for a better world by 2030. These goals have the power to end poverty, fight inequality and stop climate change. Guided by the goals, it is now up to all of us, governments, businesses, civil society and the general public to work together to build a better future for everyone. This project is an opportunity for your institute to actively contribute to their achievement. See more here: https://youtu.be/0XTBYMfZyrM
Development Education
Development education is an approach to education which looks to foreground the importance of tackling the root causes of poverty, inequality and climate change. It is an interactive, inclusive approach to education which foregrounds critical thinking, systems thinking, problem solving, and active citizenship.
