Kilkenny Public Participation Network supports community groups with small once off projects that have a social inclusion remit and work towards the inclusion of those outlined in the Equal Status Acts 2000-2004 as well as other identifiable socially excluded groups. These acts prohibit discrimination and include nine grounds as follows: gender; marital status family status sexual orientation religious belief age disability race membership of the Traveller community. National Play and Recreation Scheme 2019. Kilkenny County Council invite applications from groups who works with children & young people in the voluntary, community and not-for-profit under the National Play and Recreation Scheme 2019. National Play Day is targeted for pre-school age children. National Recreation Week is targeted at 12-18 year olds. Closing date: 4PM on Monday 30th September 2019 The Department of Rural and Community Development has allocated €0.5m to fund capital equipment or minor capital works in Men's Sheds, this follows from a discussion with the Irish Men's Shed Association .This new funding is a ring-fenced fund, under the existing Community Enhancement Programme. Fáilte Ireland’s major new capital investment programme worth €150 million is called Platforms for Growth, and will run from 2019 to 2022. Major new visitor attractions of scale will be developed and existing attractions greatly enhanced under the programme which falls under the Government’s Project Ireland 2040 strategy. Through Fáilte Ireland’s Destination Towns initiative, every Local Authority in the country – including Kilkenny County Council - will be able to bid for funding of between €250,000 and €500,000 to develop up to two towns in their area that have the potential to become a tourism hub.The new scheme, which is now open for applications, will provide funding for the Local Authority to enhance public spaces and attract more overseas visitors. Kilkenny County Council will award a limited number of grants to cultural projects in the county as part of the Creative Ireland 2019 Programme. The amount awarded to any one project will not exceed €5,000 in 2019. The quantity and value of awards will comprise of two awards to the value of €2,500 and one award to the value of €5000.
